Terms of Use

These terms cover using this site and being listed on it. They are written plainly on purpose. If something here is unclear, message us on Instagram at @agorabsu and ask.

What Agora is

Agora is a free directory of businesses and creative work run by Ball State students. We list people. We do not sell anything, take a cut, or handle any part of a deal between you and a listing.

Agora is run independently by students. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by Ball State University.

Deals happen off Agora

Every listing points you to someone's Instagram or TikTok. Once you message them, you are dealing with that person directly. No money moves through this site.

We do not vet, background check, license check, or supervise anyone listed here. A listing is not a recommendation and not a guarantee of anything. Use the same judgment you would use messaging any stranger online. Anything that goes wrong between you and a listing is between the two of you.

Getting listed

Listings are free and reviewed by hand. We can decline a submission, and we can remove a listing later, for any reason.

When you submit, you are telling us:

• The business or work is yours.
• What you wrote is true, and you can actually do what you say you do.
• You own the photos you send us, or you have permission to use them.
• You are okay with us publishing all of it on your page.

You keep ownership of your words, your photos, and your name. You are giving us permission to show them on Agora and to use them to promote Agora, including on our own social accounts. That permission ends when your listing comes down, apart from anything already posted elsewhere.

What we do with a listing

We edit for length and clarity, choose which category and tags it sits under, pick the artwork treatment, and decide what gets featured on the home page. We may correct obvious mistakes. We will not change what you do or invent claims about you.

What you cannot submit

• Anything illegal, or anything you need a license for and do not have.
• Someone else's business, name, or work.
• Adult content, weapons, drugs, vapes, or alcohol sales.
• Hateful, harassing, or threatening content.
• Claims you cannot back up, fake reviews, or made-up credentials.
• Spam, or a listing that only exists to link somewhere else.

Taking your listing down

Message @agorabsu and ask. We will take it down. There is no account to close and nothing to cancel.

If you think a listing is using your name, your business, or your photos without permission, message us and tell us which one. We will look at it and take it down if you are right.

Using the site

Do not scrape it, copy the directory wholesale, or use anything on it to send unsolicited messages to the people listed. They are here so customers can find them, not so their handles can be harvested.

No guarantees

Agora is provided as is. We do not promise the site will be up, that everything on it is accurate, or that being listed will bring you customers. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses that come from using the site or from dealing with anyone on it.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top is when they last changed. Using the site after that means the new version applies.
